Sausalito Herring Festival! 1/31/16

Looks like the pelicans and seals aren’t the only ones who will be enjoying the spoils of the annual herring run happening in our backyard waters. Once again, Cass Gidley Marina is hosting this unique festival to celebrate life on and under the waters and raise funds for their Affordable Community Boating Center next to Dunphy Park here in Sausalito. There’s a full day of music, food, fish!, drinks and auctioned prizes planned for Sunday January 31st – 11am-4p.   Come early to ensure you get a taste of the herring, stay late to dance in the sun (we hope!)...

Explore Sausalito’s Secret Staircases and Passages

Just added this great series of walking tours to our calendar. For the next 5 Saturdays – Oct 17-Nov 14 – Dorothy Gibson  is leading Secret Sausalito Free Walking Tours through different parts of town.  You gotta use those public access ways or you just might loose them. Wear walking shoes, bring water and meet at Sausalito’s Ice House Historical Center on Bridgeway at Bay St at 10am.  Allow 3 hours.  Rain or Shine!...

Celebratory movie on the water

Waterfront Legend Larry Moyer (who lives on Shel Silverstein’s old houseboat) is screening a film 90 years in the making this Saturday, September 26th at 8p.  You must arrive by water to view it.   Look for boats, kayaks, floating magic carpets gathered at the corner of the Liberty Dock and bring a small light. The Sausalito Arts Commission has long dreamed of such waterfront screenings and is elated to join in this event to celebrate the life, the legend, the history and the innovative spirit of this community. Here’s a little profile the Smithsonian did on Larry Moyer and the unique community we call home.  The man is full of spicy stories and good laughs....
